Tecca Thompson

I’m Tecca Thompson, founder of Sacred Healing Spaces and the woman behind The Rested Black Woman. I create sacred, somatic spaces where Black women can soften, heal, and come home to themselves. My work is rooted in rest as a form of liberation—through breath, story, and nervous system care. Whether it’s through retreats, coaching, or collective healing spaces, I guide women back to the truth that rest isn’t something we earn.

It’s something we remember

To be a Rested Black Woman means choosing to build your life around rest.
Not as a reward.
But as a necessary part of healing and liberation.

Founder at Sacred Healing Spaces, LLC | Somatic Practitioner | Collective Care Advocate | Trauma-Informed Facilitator | Holistic Healing Consultant

I’m Tecca Thompson, The Rested Black Woman. I create sacred spaces where Black women can soften, heal, and come home to themselves through somatic practice, nervous system care, and storytelling that honors our truth. I weave story, breath, and somatics to guide women into embodied rest and deeper self-trust.

My work is rooted in rest as liberation, guided by the wisdom that we don’t have to earn rest. We only have to remember it. Through retreats, coaching, and my signature method The Soft Return, I help women reclaim rest as a birthright and spiritual practice.

As a retired public service leader and the founder of Sacred Healing Spaces, LLC, I am now fully dedicated to providing collective care, corporate wellness, and holistic consulting to community-based organizations, non-profits, and agencies. My focus is on helping individuals, teams, and groups navigate stress, tension, and trauma through body-based practices that foster resilience and well-being. I offer compassionate guidance for healers, crisis responders, and community leaders, equipping them with the tools needed to restore and reconnect.

At Sacred Healing Spaces, I also create nurturing spaces specifically for Black women and Women of Color, honoring the unique intersectional challenges they face, such as sexism, racism, and societal pressures like the "Strong Black Woman" trope. Through somatic practices, breathwork, and interactive storytelling—all grounded in trauma-informed principles and nervous system awareness—I guide women toward rest, healing, and transformation.

With over two decades of experience in program development, grant management, and community-based initiatives, I previously served as the Director of Federally Funded Programs for the State of Ohio. During my tenure, I successfully managed multimillion-dollar federal grants and developed the nationally recognized Ohio PREP Adulthood Topics manual. My expertise in program development, curriculum creation, and trauma-informed approaches enables me to support organizations in creating transformative spaces for healing and personal growth.

Now, as I focus on my work with Sacred Healing Spaces, LLC, I am committed to partnering with organizations to provide collective care and holistic wellness services. If your agency or organization is seeking expert guidance in program development, curriculum creation, collective care, or corporate wellness, I would love to connect and explore how Sacred Healing Spaces, LLC can help facilitate meaningful change.
